Super-fun Saturday with the art party in Golden. I just love teaching at the Golden Fiber Arts Studio; this is a pic of the class where I taught how to create 2 hand-made books adding a mixed media touch. We had 10 lovely, creative ladies from all over the front range. What an honor to spend the day with them all! Thanks to Tamara for hosting such a great class. (Finished books below:)
Today I met with my dear friend and mentor, Carol Waugh, who continued to inspire and support me as I march toward my solo gallery show scheduled for March, 2014 (opening 2/27, aBuzz Gallery). She helped set the course of my thinking for this show (which is a huge challenge on so many levels). I took a quick walk around my neighborhood to process her challenge and advice, and found this hidden image. Oh my, perfect timing! Carol talked about diving in to the concept and staying true to a singular focus; nothing like a reinforced message hidden in plane view. Thanks Carol!
Crayon Batik; easy and versatile!
This is a new crayon batik (with a little bit of hand-stitching) ready for a mixed media piece. This technique is so versatile and works quickly. One way to use them is for personalizing store-bought journals. Want to learn? I am teaching a workshop in Denver 10/18.
