Paonia wine tour and nature journal art retreat, 2013

Wow, another really wonderful art retreat in Paonia, CO. Thank you Susie and the Glennie Coombe Gallery (and Ollie's Ice Cream). What a great art space, what a lovely town and fantastic part of Colorado! Thursday afternoon we were introduced to the 3 art projects (boiled books, assemblage and personal journals) along with the concepts of positive and negative spaces. Then off to Azura winery for a picnic and lovely time. Friday we worked all morning then went to Delicious Orchards for lunch then to the private Eames Cellars for a fascinating tour and taste (loved that pear wine!!). A quick stop at the Black Bridge Orchards including a few minutes to work on our journals by the river; ahhhh, a much needed rest and time to take in the magic of this area. Saturday we started the day at the north rim of the Black Canyon; all of us in awe. A wonderful picnic there, then back to the workshop space for a full afternoon of art! By 8pm we were all delightfully full; of ice cream, art time and wonderful camaraderie. Thanks all of you wonderful women; it was a truly inspirational weekend together!
