Oh my gosh; the show is hung! I spent Saturday with Owen (a professional gallery hanger) and Neil (the vinyl lettering guy). What an experience! The details of putting together a solo art show are really interesting; lots of moving parts. And now it is all together and ready to rock this Friday, 2/28, at the opening from 5-8pm. I am so excited and can't wait to welcome all of my friends, students and random folks interested in this effort to elevate journal work to the status of legitimate art!

I was so lucky to spend another delightful Saturday at the Golden Fiber Art Center helping (hopefully!) de-mystify the whole world of acrylic mediums. From fluid to gel, from gloss to matte, from 10am to 2pm...we played and experimented with all kinds of wonderful materials used in mixed media. Thanks to Cheryl, Debbie, Deneen, Debra, Kellun, Jennifer, Althea and Jane for a fun four hours together!
Ok, so the Bronco game was hor-i-ble yesterday and we all still recovering.
The big weekend delight was assembling and filling these wonderful new storage units I found at Ikea! I just love the turquoise, 3 shelf rolling unit which I can keep at my elbow while working at my table. This gets my most-used supplies off the surface (where they seem to crowd out my work space) and is delightful to look at with the retro color. I bought two drawer units and am pleased with the way they slide out and in easily with tons of room in each drawer. Finally, I have a spot for the millions of little scraps of paper that I can't part with as well as the tapes, stamp ink and all that weird stuff we call ephemera. I'm not promoting Ikea here, just passing along the refreshing feeling of a little re-organization time! |
