Last weekend we were in Philadelphia for a wedding and I stole a few moments to work in my art journal. It is a great city for urban sketching with lots of lovely small parks (and benches) and interesting architecture. The history is amazing and comes alive as you wander down the narrow streets. I am trying to add more depth to my sketches; I am exploring a Sakura Pigma brush pen. I'll devote a newsletter to it if I end up liking the results and versatility.
I'm getting ready to teach a new class this weekend; Hand Lettering for Art Journaling. I am immersed in the wonderful world of fonts, calligraphy and all things related to lettering! The world has exploded with variations! One of my favorite finds is the Your Fonts site which allows you to make your personal handwriting into a font that can become part of your Word processing program. Seriously! It is a blast. Here is a link; follow the instructions and create your own font! I'd love to see it, I hope you'll send me a sample.
