I have fallen deeply and hopelessly in love with my new toy: a puzzle from the Liberty Puzzle Company made out of wooden pieces and gorgeous reproductions of interesting paintings. I found this last Saturday while we were cruising around Boulder enjoying the "Downtown Boulder Festival". It is approx. 7 inches in diameter. The pieces are not your typical puzzle pieces with only "in-ys and out-ys" - oh no...these pieces include some whimsical shapes (like the eagle I pulled out). I had not done a puzzle since I was a kid stuck at home during a "noreaster" (blizzard). Not only did this bring back wonderful memories but it engaged me like binging on House of Cards. Delicious!! Absolutely mesmerizing! Check out Liberty Puzzles if you are ever on the Pearl Street Mall in Boulder for a knock your socks off experience.

Can the above pictures tell the story (look for the laughter, colors & New Mexican light)? What a great 3 days together! We focused on sketching in the mornings and afternoons, then mixed media in the studio at night. We also focused on endless great meals, lots of laughter (OK, lots of wine too!) and experimenting with art journal techniques. Casa Benavides welcomed us as usual, and gave us full rein in their lovely Inn. Taos holds so many fabulous views that the inspiration was easy to find. Thanks to Molly, Jane, Joyce, Leslie, Ann, Debra, Mitra and (my assistant) Susie. I loved spending the time with you all and learning so much.
This was my 5th Art Retreat in Taos and every year feels like a totally different trip. Between the participants and the new spots we find for inspiration (& new restaurants!) it is always a terrific adventure. I will start planning 2016 in the next month and have decided to limit the number of students to 8 so if you are interested in joining the fun please let me know as soon as possible! |
