Enjoy the slide show of the Paonia Wine and Journal Workshop that was held last weekend! Wow, we had such a great time in the open air and the studio and the ice cream shop and galleries. Many thanks to the wonderful ladies who participated and to Susie (chief chef, picnic planner, ice cream gal and fantastic hostess!!). The fiber art journals that everyone completed were just amazing; each one unique and full of personal exploration with colorful results. We also created accordion book journals filled with layered pages...just lovely! This was such a wonderful weekend for me and was a great time to be away from the heat (and sadness) in Denver; thanks to everyone for joining me on this ultimate Adventure Journal trip: Kay, Christa, Jeannie, Betty, Ann, Nan, Leigh, Susie.
I can't wait for another On the Road trip to Taos in early September!

The Eye Opener Cafe in Niwot, CO was the scene of our recent journal meet-up. What a lovely little spot in on a cool street in a funky town with a distinct vibe! 4 intrepid adventure journalers showed up to hang out with me at the round table and journal while being entertained by a guitar player (at 10am). When was the last time I heard "live" yodeling? Here is a section of my quick-sketch journal page, I am deciding about adding some color. Note the mini Zentangle based on the book Kay brought to share. Loved the spot, thanks to Meri for the recommendation! What a delightful day spent with 4 interesting and creative women at the Art Student League of Denver on Saturday. I taught a one-day workshop called "Looking Deeper: a mixed media approach to visual journals". One of the writing prompts was using the number 7 to chart what we have learned. Here is a detail of my journal spread. The first layer was sprayed using the cut out circles for stencils, then I added text then attached my printed clear label paper as a border. The circles are the cut-outs from an abstract acrylic ink page, plus spray inks and masking tape. Mixed media for sure! Thanks ladies; you were an inspiration and creative companions for this day-long workshop! And props to the League for cooling things down this summer! |
